Christmas 2007

Dear Friends of Saint Mark Community,

This past year has gone by so quickly and once again we are approaching the beautiful and joyous Christmas Season. I believe that I have mentioned this before but I can't help myself - this is my favorite time of the year!

One of the reasons that this is my favorite time of the year is that the change of seasons and the holiday spirit brings the best out of people. People, in general, seem kinder and more willing to give of their time and treasure especially towards the less fortunate. Once again St. Marks will be involved in a number of Outreach Ministries sharing our blessings with those in need in our surrounding community.

I believe that this has been a good year for St. Marks. A year ago we initiated our monthly Eucharistic Adoration Day. I would judge this addition to our Liturgical Life to be a wonderful success. Many parishioners have availed themselves of this day of grace. Our parish school children come over and spend time praying for their families and our parishioners. A deeper love of the Lord in the Eucharist has become more evident.

A few months ago we began having a monthly Volunteer Sign Up Sunday instead of just a liturgical fair a couple times a year. I am happy to say that I believe more members of our community are involved in different ministries and outreaches then at the time I became Pastor 5 1/2 years ago. I am proud to see so many new faces sharing their gifts and talents with the rest of the community.

In the hopes for better communication with all the parish our Sunday Bulletin was enlarged and slowly more groups and organizations are making good use of this communication tool. The new bulletin will continue to evolve in the months ahead.

I contunue to be optimistic that our parish community is headed in a very positive and wonderful direction. I would still like to see more programs and special enrichment opportunities added to our calendar of events. With your support and interest all things are possible.

Your generosity at this time assists us greatly in meeting our financial obligations. I hope that you will be with us during the celebrations of Christmas. If you will be away I pray you will not forget your parish and that wherever you might be you will be able to celebrate Christmas with loved ones and friends.

May the blessings of the soon to be born Prince fo Peace come to you and your loved ones in abundance. A Blessed and Joyous Christmas to all

With every good wish,

Father Michael Rocha
Pastor
